Did The Movie “Enough” With Jennifer Lopez Help Women’s Self-Defense?
Even though this movie wasn’t really a success with movie critics, it was able to generate somewhere around US$ 55 mio.
Looking at it from martial arts and self-defense perspective, it probably does offer women something to think about and maybe even start taking self-defense classes.
The fighting concepts depicted in the movie are based on Krav Maga, which we talked about here some time ago.
I found this clip with J-Lo’s character getting ready for the big show-down with some interesting martial arts philosophies and a very challenging workout regimen.
I would really love to hear from the women reading this post today and learn if this movie had any effect on you in regards to your martial arts and self-defense training.
Jack Bauer/Kiefer Sutherland Of “24″ And The Art Of Fighting
Alright then, I have officially watched the first 4 episodes of this season’s “24″ with federal agent Jack Bauer, convincingly played by Kiefer Sutherland.
And yes, I am hooked again.
I actually don’t watch much TV anymore. Honestly, it can’t be more than 4 hours a ….. week.
Now that would be a good book title, “The 4 Hour Watch Week”. And ever since I reduced it to the current consumption level, I am getting a lot more done.
But there is definitely one TV show I really do enjoy and that is “24″ which is known to be one of the shows for adrenaline junkies (and I am not normally to be considered as such!).
Besides all the twists and turns in a “24″ script including very special effects, I of course enjoy the fight scenes with Kiefer Sutherland. I mean Jack Bauer.
I have been trying to find out what fighting style he uses to get the job done and so far I haven’t found out what it is.
To me it looks like elements of Wing Chun, JKD, Kali, Krav Maga.
Is there anybody out there reading this post who can tell me what fighting style Jack Bauer uses to make the world a safer place?

Amir Perets – Martial Arts Champion, Fitness Guru, Israeli Self-Defense Expert
Amir Perets was born in Tiberias, Israel.
By the the time he turned 18, Amir was already National Heavyweight Kick-Boxing Champion and considerd a martial arts expert.
Due to his extraordinary skills demonstrated during his service in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) he qualified to become a member/commando of the highly distinguished elite IDF Naval Commando Unit “Shayetet 13″ which could probably be compared to U.S. Navy Seals.
Amir later on became the Krav Maga/hand-to-hand combat instructor of the Israeli infantry and Special Forces units.
Krav Maga was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld and is considered the combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It has been gaining in worldwide recognition as an extremely effective self-defense system for civilians, too.
Click Here to read my recent post on Krav Maga
Currently he trains combat self-defense to U.S. law enforcement and military special anti-terrorist units around the world.
Amir Perets teaches a modern day fighting system that integrates self defense and combat fitness methods that he has made available to civilians, too.
His system incorporates two highly respected and realistic approaches to self defense and fight training: Krav Maga and specialized techniques from the world of Mixed Martial Arts (no holds barred).
Be amazed by Amir Perets, martial arts champion, fitness guru and Israeli self-defense expert. I know I am!
Krav Maga – Martial Art Or Not?
Is Krav Maga a martial art or not?
As far as Krav Maga practitioners are concerned it’s more about martial than art.
Now what does that mean? Good question.
For some, traditional martial arts appear to be too rigid and simply too tradition-bound.
Krav Maga strives to be a ‘defensive tactics system’ which means it has to constantly adapt to situation and circumstances.
It is NOT a sport. It is about self-defense that will get you home safely.
Krav Maga incorporates elements of many martial arts themselves.
Krav Maga has been the prime fighting system of the Israeli Defense Forces since the State of Israel was founded in 1948.
Imi Lichtenfeld, who created Krav Maga (Hebrew for contact combat), was the Israeli military school’s chief instructor for physical training and Krav Maga.
He already developed the concepts of an effective self-defense system while still living as a Jew in Eastern Europe and fighting fascist thugs in the 1930s.
Years later in Israel, Mr. Lichtenfeld continued to refine the system to base it on the body’s natural instincts under stress and making it a very aggressive, “never quit” combat system.
Check out this video clip and as always viewer discretion is advised.
Do not attempt without a certified instructor and not before consulting your physician!
So, is Krav Maga a martial art or not? Let me know what you think.
